While most people have heard of the Hamptons, there are many beautiful towns in Long Island that are overlooked simply because they are lesser known. Both of us grew up on Long Island and have always known the East End to be where New York’s elite come to play. It’s a luxury seaside real estate market that is unmatched, and we still love any opportunity to head out to the Hamptons. However, for our own home, we wanted to consider the commute. Some may consider it “weekending in the suburbs,” but the fact that Nissequogue is so much closer to city is a huge plus in our books.
“If you’re commuting from Manhattan, do you want to sit in traffic for 3 ½ hours in the Hamptons?” Mickey says. “Do you want to see the same people you see in New York?”
Over the last few years, we have seen its popularity grow and many people now consider it a worthy alternative to the East End.

The village of Nissequogue and other communities throughout western Suffolk County offer so much character and charm. They are much more than just places you drive by or fly over on the way to and from the Hamptons. You get luxury waterfront living that’s more away from the crowd, even though it’s so much closer to the city. There is rich history, friendly people and beautiful environmentally protected rural areas to go along with a very high-end lifestyle.
“It’s not for everybody,” Tom says, “but it’s perfect for us.”
