Fun Things to Do in NYC This Summer

It’s so great to see our city coming back to life heading into summer. Everything is reopening and things are slowly but surely starting to feel a little like normal again. New York City has shown time and time again that it can bounce back from the toughest challenges. It’s what makes NYC the best city on earth!

It is very exciting to see more events and activities returning to the city this summer. It’s so nice to be able to dine out at our favorite restaurants, check out some shows and socialize with our friends that we haven’t been able to see very much in the past year.

Mega-Concert in Central Park?

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city is trying to quickly pull together a summer “mega-concert” to celebrate the reopening of the city. It would take place in Central Park on August 21. He’s called upon legendary producer, Clive Davis, to try and make this incredible concert happen as part of an overall “Homecoming Week” he has planned. The hope is to reinvigorate tourism in the city and bring our community back together with a series of special events.

Shakespeare in the Park

Speaking of Central Park, be sure and check out Shakespeare in the Park this summer. There will be free shows from July 6 through September 18. This year will be a fresh and joyous adaptation of Merry Wives. Jocelyn Bioh has adapted the Shakespeare classic “Merry Wives of Windsor” with a South Harlem spin and a unique celebration of West African immigrant culture in the city.

Visit Your Favorite Restaurants

We all know that the restaurant industry was hit hard by the pandemic. Now that we can dine out again, we encourage everyone to go visit their favorite restaurants, bars and clubs throughout the city. Show your support for our local businesses while reconnecting with friends and family you may not have seen in awhile. We can’t wait to head to our favorite neighborhood joint, Trattoria Dell’Arte!

Showing support for local businesses goes beyond just eating out at your favorite restaurants. Visit local shops, get your Broadway tickets as more and more shows reopen and do all the things you love to do in the city.

Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center Plaza

Another great concert we are looking forward to is the Metropolitan Opera’s Summer HD Festival. It will be held outdoors in Lincoln Center Plaza and will feature a series of classical operas displayed on the big screen in a unique simulcast series. The festival begins on August 23.

Little Island @ Pier 54

Little Island is a new 2.4-acre park built on the remnants of old Pier 54. It is open daily from 6:00 am to 1:00 am and offers a variety of wonderful activities for the entire family. They have a great little amphitheater for a variety of performances and the park will be featuring various art installations throughout the summer. Little Island is a fun place to spend a nice summer day!

NYC is coming back to life and it is so exciting. We love Manhattan and everything about the New York lifestyle. This is going to be a summer nobody will forget!
